A New Detox Water
The kids and I are still getting to know our new area and last weekend we went to a farmers market about 15 miles aways since ours will not open back up for a few weeks. It was a small market but thats what happens when you live in south Florida and need to find an indoor location for your venders. Regardless, the kids found there favorite, fresh fruit, frozen treats and I found my treats, too…for which one is going to make a new detox water!
I am always on the lookout for fresh, new ingredients because “new” always makes an old recipe come to life again. This time I found a Citrus Thyme plant. Oh my goodness! First of all, who would have thought to combine those two flavors? (Ok, so maybe you are a gormet chef, I am not). I typically use thyme in Italian inspired cooking and citrus with sweet salads or baking. But this plant has knocked me off my feet. It is actually so good that the kids will just pick a few leaves off and knaw on them. They think its “cool!”
I am big on water, naturally. So I have decided to add this great plant to my detox waters. Typically I just use thinly sliced lemons and cucumbers but on some days I like to take a little more time and add some flair.
I sliced up some lemons, limes, gingerly chopped the thyme and added it as well. This is even more refreshing than plain lemon infused water.
Did you know that lemons may:
- improve digestion
- boost mineral absorption
- detox
Whether or not lemons truly can do such things, this refreshing blend is too good to pass up!
